Shen Yun Returns to the Kennedy Center
From January 26 to 30, Shen Yun Performing Arts’ New York Company will play six shows at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, DC.
Shen Yun first played at the Kennedy Center in February 2009. The performances’ astounding success—with rave reviews from members of Congress and other Washington dignitaries—led to the company’s frequent returns since. This month’s performances mark Shen Yun’s fifth visit to the Kennedy Center within two calendar years.
The Kennedy Center Opera House is part of the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, which opened in 1971 overlooking the Potomac River. For four decades, the Center has been fulfilling President Kennedy’s vision of art as “a form of truth.” The New York Times once described the Kennedy Center as “a gigantic marble temple to music, dance, and drama.”
This week’s Shen Yun performances are presented by New Tang Dynasty Television - DC, and sponsored by the Falun Dafa Association of Washington DC.
Shen Yun currently has three equally large companies simultaneously touring around the world. The New York Company, which will perform in Washington, just finished a ten-day set at Lincoln Center earlier this month.
Meanwhile, the Touring Company will be performing in St. Louis’ Fox Theater, and the International Company is currently touring South Korea.
